Background

With a degree in recreation and diverse real-world job experience ranging from working for New York State to visual merchandising, financial services was the farthest thing on Sarah’s radar screen. But when her father became ill and needed help managing his business, Sarah jumped in feet first. “The common denominator in everything I’ve done professionally is client service. In hindsight, taking over the business from my father did not seem such a stretch,” adds Sarah in describing the roundabout way that led her to Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual).

Philosophy

Service and satisfaction are the number one drivers for Sarah. “One of my biggest strengths is that I did not join this industry knowing all the answers. Rather, I know where to go for the answers,” explains Sarah. “Because of my early-career experience, I can relate well to the challenges clients face in securing their financial future.”

For Sarah, her skill lies in getting to know each client personally and making sure that they understand what they’re getting. “A big part of the job is education,” Sarah believes. “I work in small markets where everyone knows everyone else. My family’s reputation in this business is important to me. I am not going to let a client make a decision without first making sure the client understands fully what they’re getting.”

Sarah’s low-key approach is well suited for early-career professionals or anyone looking to manage their financial future and retirement assets more effectively. “I appreciate those clients who are willing and want to know about the solutions that exist to help protect what matters most—clients who realize that no one is truly invulnerable.”

Adds Sarah, “In another career, I learned firsthand the importance of income protection when I was rear ended in an automobile accident and could not work for eight months. Today, I appreciate most the privilege of working with clients who are just beginning their careers or families and recognize the value of planning for the future.” Amongst her many areas of expertise, Sarah enjoys a strong following with soon-to-be-grads coming out of Cornell’s Veterinary Medicine Program.

Personal

Sarah is the mother of two children. She is active in local soccer as the manager of a travel team where she spends many hours coordinating day-to-day activities. Sarah lives in Ithaca, NY. In her spare time, she and her family enjoy snowmobiling in the Adirondacks.
