Financial Services Professional
For Matt, it was a college internship working in insurance that piqued his curiosity and inspired him to develop his professional career in the field. As he explains today, “It was the inspiration to begin developing my practice in insurance.” Twenty-five years and many clients from all walks of life later, it was a good choice.
So many of the complicated products and services consumers buy every day have become commoditized thanks in part to the Internet and advertising. Simplifying the complex and helping clients become more confident about their financial affairs is what drives Matt in serving clients. “I help people evaluate the dynamics of their monthly cash flow. I help clients understand how, by more effectively managing their cash flow, they can protect that which they value the most and build net worth,” adds Matt.
As a financial services professional, Matt sees his value in helping clients prepare for the different phases of their life whether they are in the early stages of their professional careers, mid career, pre-retirement or in retirement. “Protecting income and assets from risk is crucial,” explains Matt. “The reality of life comes with risk—risks associated with disability, death, serious illness, inflation and taxes to name a few.”
Matt readily concedes that consumers today have a wealth of information at their disposal. “Synthesizing and making it all meaningful is my role,” explains Matt. “The issue is not the availability of information; it’s delineating what is relevant and meaningful in the context of each client’s unique needs and objectives.”
Matt’s strengths are in life insurance where he brings considerable experience designing effective programs for clients. His clients in Western NY range from their mid 30s to mid 50s, but all share a common commitment to preparing financially for the various phases of life and planning for the next generation.
As an independent agent, Matt can source and select from a wide range of solutions. “I am proud to represent MassMutual; their products are compatible with the needs of many of my clients,” Matt adds further. “In my practice, we are not loyal to just one company, nor are we product driven. We have never forgotten that our business is fundamentally a people business.”
In between running his office and caring for his family, Matt indulges his interest in sports, politics and history, in addition to active involvement in Browncroft Community Church, Junior Achievement and Penfield Sea Dragons Swim Club. He is a member of Estate Planning Council and Society of Financial Services Professionals.
Matt and his wife, Betsy, have twin daughters and reside in Penfield.
